I recently created my Raw Italian Feast for a group retreat at the lodge. The group was relatively new to raw foods so I knew the Italian Feast would be the perfect way to introduce them to living cuisine.  The recipes I used were from my recipe e-book, they are simple and straight forward recipes that recreate perfectly every time.

The menu:

Spinach Salad with Italian Vinaegrette
"Baked" Manicotti with Sausage, Spinach and Garlic Cheese
Spaghetti with Crumbled Sausage & Parmesan Cheeze
Carrot Cake

This is one of my favorite raw meals, the marinara is incredible... I like to eat it as soup! It can be served with kelp noodles or zucchini noodles. Here's the recipe for you to create my classic sweet tomato marinara. If you are interested in the entire Raw Italian Feast, visit the "Shoppe" and purchase the entire e-book for $11.11.

Padmapani's Sweet Tomato Marinara

1 cup sun-dried tomatoes*
3 cups water
3-4 tbsp. raw honey
1/8 cup cashews (optional for creaminess)
2 tbsp. dried basil
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 tbsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. black pepper

*some sun-dried tomatoes are dried with salt, others are not. Check the “ingredients” section on your package of tomatoes to determine if they come with, or without salt. If your sun-dried tomatoes do contain salt then follow the recipe as is. If your sun-dried tomatoes do NOT contain salt, add an additional 1/2 tsp. of sea salt to the recipe.
1. Soak the sun-dried tomatoes in 3 cups of water for at least 30 minutes.

2. Pour the tomatoes, the 3 cups of soak water, and the remaining ingredients into a high speed blender. Puree until smooth and creamy.

The recipe will yield about 32 ounces of sauce. Store sauce in a glass jar in the fridge, sauce will last for about 7 days.

Enjoy!

tin foil hats...

Has it really been 6 months since the last post? So much has changed over the past months, lots of growing... exploring... clarity. We are refocusing our attention and energy to hone in and manifest our personal goals. One thing has been a constant though - healing through creative expression and live foods.

We have moved on from living at Father Earth Organic Farm. Since September we have been happily parked at Sunshine Mountain Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado. This is the lodge where we held the Seeds of Sunshine Raw Retreat back in May. Since moving into the mountains and parking at the lodge we have been hosting monthly rawlucks, dinner nights, and have more raw retreats scheduled. At the same time, we are focused on Dustin's sacred tattoo career and are attending multiple tattoo conventions in the upcoming year. We are looking forward to bringing more awareness to his sacred artwork and to this powerful healing modality.

We are gearing up to bring you more episodes of "The Raw Seed TV Show" as well as new recipes, e-books, and insight into where we've been for the past 6 months. No, we haven't been tucked away in a cave wearing tin foil hats. Well.... only on the weekends.

Explore the new website layout... especially the "Recipes" section where you can find FREE raw recipes to inspire and guide your journey. Enjoy this winter warming recipe, it's the perfect combination of sweet and savory, it'll be sure to keep you toasty on those cold nights:

Warming Butternut Squash Soup

ingredients:
2 c. shredded butternut squash
1/8 cup soaked cashew
3/4 cup fresh orange juice
5 dates
2 tbsp. honey
pinch cinnamon
1/8 tsp. sea salt, curry and tumeric

1. Remove skin and seeds from butternut squash. Shred in food processor or by hand.
2. Place all ingredients in a high power blender, blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust spices to your taste, enjoy! This recipe is best enjoyed fresh.

First... EVER.. Allenspark Rawluck

.
We hosted our Seeds of Sunshine Raw Retreat in Allenspark back in May. We had such a great response to the retreat that we scheduled multiple rawlucks in Allenspark for the upcoming months. Allenspark is a small, quiet, mountain town with a strong interest in healing naturally, feeling better, and making better food choices. Cat (from the Sunshine Mountain Lodge) and I teamed up to host the first ever, Allenspark Rawluck on June 18th.

The rawluck was held at The Old Gallery, a beautiful log cabin that now serves as a Gallery and Community Center for events like ours. What an incredible space to hold this type of event. The space creates a perfect atmosphere for a raw feast. The final tally of attendees was 27 people... WOW! Not bad for our FIRST rawluck in such a tiny, little town. After feasting like champions, we were blessed with Sound Healing from Miles & Joe of Paradise ER. Miles and Joe are the same Sound Healers who came to our raw retreat back in May.

If you missed the rawluck don't worry... we have another one coming up THIS month. We'd love to have you join us for raw food and another Sound Healing session. This month's rawluck is on July 23rd at 7:00 p.m. at The Old Gallery in Allenspark.

Come join us on the 23rd for an evening of delicious food, beautiful scenery, fresh air, and sound healing!!!

June Denver Rawluck

.
We have been LOVING the Denver area raw events. On June 18th, we attended our third Denver rawluck at Your Healing Place to share our transformation stories with the group. We brought Bleu Bee along for the ride to give tours and inspire others to be creative in their own lives. Since this was our third time at this particular rawluck, the group was eager to finally meet Bleu Bee.

We are currently parked in the Lafayette/Boulder area so a 45 minute drive to Denver is a breeze with Bleu Bee. The bus has been running great and loving all the adventures in the mountains. Here I am driving Ms. Bee into Denver. We always get funny looks when we travel but this time I saw someone hanging out their car window taking a picture of the bus, haha!

Here is a picture of me setting up the bus for tours. I always have paperwork to share talking about The Magical Mystery Bus Project, along with brochures sharing helpful raw information and products. See the giveaway basket in the background?
I created a delicious gift basket with all sorts of raw goodies from our sponsors and from my own personal stash. The basket was loaded with nuts, seeds, bars, chapstick and other raw goodies from Kaia Foods, Lydia's Organics, The Raw Food World, Solay Wellness, Wilderness Poets, and Hurraw Balm! There was over $100.00 in rawness packed into this little treasure of awesomeness. We randomly picked names to choose a winner. The first two people who's names were drawn had already left... oh no! On our third attempt Simon's name was drawn. He and his wife were SO excited about all the raw goodies, I know they will put the treats to good use. Congrats Simon! We had a great time at this rawluck... as always! The Denver crowd really knows how to bring it... not to mention all the yummy food. We'll see you next month, thanks for the awesome evening!

Raw Retreat Part 5 - Mexican Feast, Birthday Cake, and Upcoming Retreats!

.

It was going to be a challenge to "one up" the Indian Feast. With one dinner service to go, it had to be super! The Mexican Feast is always a (serious) hit. No one EVER believes it's raw. Tortilla chips, taco shells, taco "meat," sour cream, mango salsa, tomato salsa... it's divine! By this point in the retreat, the guests are more comfortable with raw food and all the possibilities. I taught a class earlier in the day where we create a Mayan Chocolate Cheesecake for this dinner service. Involving the guests in the process is very important, everyone needs to connect with the food they are eating. It's important to create in one's life, creating with food is one of my favorite ways!

The Mexican Feast Menu consisted of:

Spring Salad
With your choice of Fiesta Rance Dressing, Creamy Ceasar, Lemon & Olive Oil

Hard Shell Tacos and Tortilla Chips Served With:

Toppins' Galore
Red Pepper Cheese, Sour Cream with Chivces, Fermented Cashew Cheese, Mango Salsa, Cherry Tomato Salsa, Guacamole (two varieties: mellow and HOT), and Taco "Meat."

Fiesta Mushrooms
Mushrooms, red peppers, and onions tossed lightly in olive oil and fresh herbs then "baked" to create the perfect taco filling.

Mayan Goddess Cheesecake
Just like the Ancients, we combined rich raw cacao with fiery cayenne pepper in this divine cheesecake... fit for a queen!

Coconut Haystacks
More raw chocolate goodness.... raw cacao paired with shredded coconut to create a haystack like no other.

---------------------------------------------------------------

And.... it was amazing! Absolutely amazing! We served thirds.. and fourths.. and I do believe I saw someone go back for fifths.... but I won't mention any names (H.H.)

Aside from all the Fiesta Fun... there was more to come. We were celebrating the birthday of one of the attendees: Travis! Little did Travis know, I had been preparing a delicious raw chocolate cake for the occasion. It was a challenge to keep Travis and his special lady Irini out of the kitchen BUT I really wanted the cake to be a surprise. At one point, I literally chased them away with a wooden spoon. Here is a picture of Travis preparing his taco... little did he know a delicious RAW cake was about to manifest in his (very near) future!!!

When we were all seated, we turned off the lights, began singing.. and served the cake in all it's glory! I created a "vanilla" cake with chocolate frosting and fresh berries in between the layers..... ooooooh man!

I called on my professional cake cutting skills and managed to serve a 6 inch round cake to 23 people!
Check out that slice!

Creating raw cakes is one of my favorite aspects of raw food. Prior to eating this way, I created custom wedding/special occasion cakes. Making the transition from baked cakes to raw cakes was easy and extremely inspiring. I am promoting my raw cakes more and more, I want to book more weddings and cake jobs! (hint.. hint.. wink.. wink!!!) Here's a picture of Travis and his cake moments after he blew out the 'ol candles. The birthday cake was an awesome addition to the evening.

After dinner Cat had prepared a class focusing on natural, raw, beauty solutions. Why put something on your SKIN if you wouldn't be willing to put it in your mouth? So many people rub toxic chemicals on their face, body, hair... everyday without realizing the damage they are actually doing to their body. Cat's class taught recipes for facial masks, foot scrubs, moisturizers, lotions.. and potions galore!!! I love Cat's shirt, "Got Carrots?"

It was the final evening of our retreat and we wanted to say "thank you" to everyone who made it such a memorable weekend. Our sponsors had all sent yummy raw goodies for us to gift to the retreat attendees so we played a trivia game and gave away delicious prizes from Kaia Foods, Wilderness Poets, Hurraw Balm, Lydia's Organics, Solay Wellness, and The Raw Food World!

Unfortunately, some of our guests had gone to bed or left for the evening so we were not able to get a FULL group shot. But, here's a few of us with all our goodies!

---------------------------------------------------------------

It was sad to leave the retreat center the following day.

Raw Retreat Part 4 - Indian Feast

.
It's funny how quickly work can spread.... After our successful Italian feast we almost doubled our attendance for the Indian Feast the following night. Many of these people were husbands and friends of the attendees. It was awesome to see the group organically growing because everyone was eager to share living foods with friends and family. It is a good thing Cat and I rolled and entire extra batch of Falafel Balls in preparation for this evening. The grand total was 176 balls... HA! The official count of Indian Feast attendees was 26 people! The second dinner service was extra special because I served up my famous Raw Indian Feast. Holy Curry... it gets better every time!

H.H. was a HUGE help in the kitchen while we geared up for this feast of a feast. It has come to my attention that H.H. has hidden chopping skills that he's kept in the closet for the past 6 years. He claims he's learned from watching me chop veggies 24/7. Either way, I've found my new assistant. Preparing the feast was such a rush that we snapped very few pictures. I forgot to take ANY pictures of us eating AND of Miles and Joe doing their sound healing session after dinner... it was too good to remember to grab the camera!

The Indian Feast is a meal where you can do no wrong... it's a variety of curries, dips and dressings that can all be piled on top of one another to create a dynamic, flavor explosion that leaves you speechless! The menu consisted of:

The Indian Feast Menu consisted of:

Spring Salad
With your choice of Citrus Curry Dressing, Creamy Ceasar, Lemon & Olive Oil

Sauces Galore
Red Pepper Curry, Peas & Carrots Curry, Tomato Curry, Mango Chutney

Curried Mushrooms
A divine combination of slivered mushrooms, red peppers, and onions tossed with fresh herbs and a creamy curry sauce, dehydrated to perfect!

Carrot-Raisin Mushroom Slaw
Chopped Baby Bellas with shredded carrots, onions, and raisins tossed with a light curry sauce and fresh cilantro

Falafel Balls
While Falafel is traditionally a Mediterranean food... I like to throw tradition out the window. Pairing these with curry is the best thing since sliced bread!

Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with Citrus Glaze
If you're not sold on raw food... this will seal the deal. A fermented cheesecake sweetened with local raw honey and topped with a rich puree of Medjool dates and fresh orange juice.

Here is a picture of the Sound Healers playing their Didgeridoos to the Indian Feast moments before we began the dinner service. They joined us for the feast and an evening of Sacred Sound Healing. This is a powerful form of healing using frequency and sound to help the body release, relax, and rejuvenate. Miles and Joe play didgeridoos, crystal singing bowls, chimes, flutes, and use chanting to relax your mind, body, and spirit. Miles has a Wellness Center in Jamestown, Colorado, which is about 20 minutes from the retreat center. For more information on his Wellness Center click HERE. H.H. and I have had the pleasure of receiving private and group sessions from Miles and Joe at their Wellness Center, it's just amazing! I knew my experiences with their sessions were life changing but I wasn't sure how the retreat attendees would respond. Let's just say... after one hour of sound healing the entire group was transformed. It was THE topic of conversation the following day. In fact, everyone was so excited about the results that I asked Miles and Joe to join us at the upcoming Allenspark Rawluck on June 18th... they said yes!

If you would like to create my Raw Indian Feast at home you can purchase the raw recipe e-book for $9.99 at the online Shoppe. Click HERE to purchase your copy TODAY!!! All proceeds go towards keeping Bleu Bee rolling on her journey, thank you for all the support!

Raw Retreat Part 3 - Yoga, Breakfast & Lunch!

.
If you want a good night's sleep.... plan a trip to the mountains! Being in the Rocky Mountains will have you soundly sleeping through the night. A good nights rest had everyone supercharged and ready to go for the 8 a.m. yoga class with the lovely Peggy Donahue, also known as PachaMama. Peggy is an absolute goddess who has been practicing yoga for OVER 30 years! She is in incredible physical shape and lights up the room with her smile and energy. I was doing prep work in the kitchen so I wasn't able to participate in her daily yoga sessions but I made sure to snap a few pictures!

Each morning, following yoga practice, Cat prepared a beautiful breakfast featuring D.I.Y. stations.

Many attendees were at the retreat to learn HOW to incorporate healthier foods into their current lifestyle. Allowing the guests to make their breakfasts gave them a crash course on raw food. Many people had never experimented with veggie juice, wheat grass, or smoothies. They were able to get hands on and see what appealed to their own, individual tastes.

Within minutes of Breakfast Hour the kitchen was roaring with three blenders and two juicers! Some of the most experienced guests were guiding "newbies" and sharing yummy juice recipes - like apple, lemon, ginger, yum!

The Raw Cereal Station was a HUGE hit! It had everything you needed to make almond milk, banana milk, fresh greens, two types of granola - including a delicious Chocolate Granola that was donated by our sponsor Lydia's Organics.

A few of the lovely ladies made delicious and beautiful "breakfast soups" - basically smoothies with granola that you eat from a bowl! Here's a picture of Kelly and Stephanie working their magick! Yumm!!! I loved watching everyone get creative and have fun with the blenders.

Below is a picture of Jennie's amazing breakfast creation. It's a green smoothie made with a banana/nut milk base and topped with diced pear and granola.

The retreat was perfect for people who were brand new to living foods and for those who are seasoning pros. We all shared information, experience, tips and recipes, it was a true co-creation and we all learned something new.

Since breakfast was "self serve" I was able to stand back and really observe the scene. Watching everyone grow, open up, and become more comfortable with these new kitchen gadgets and recipes was so inspiring. By the third morning everyone was already in a groove and knew what they were doing.

It just goes to show that with the right attitude and environment, change can happen immediately!

Following breakfast each day I taught a gourmet prep class. Rather then have the group sit and watch me talk and blend (booring!) I had everyone working together to create recipes that we would later enjoy with our dinner. Many people are visual learners, learning by doing helps root the information in our brains. Plus... chopping 15 mangoes and three pineapples for a Mango Chutney is much easier with 14 people all chopping together! The first day's class featured "Dressings, Dips and Sauces" and the second class was "Desserts." This was a great opportunity for me to showcase the dessert recipes in my recipe e-books. The guests gained a strong understanding of the recipes because they were able to see the process from start to finish... and even taste the end product.

After "class" we took a break and offered free time. Some people organized a hike, others just relaxed... read recipe books... and drank tea. The lodge creates an environment that is soothing and comfortable, just like home. There is so much space to explore or couches to snuggle up with a book. While the attendees explored I prepped for lunch!

I wanted to keep lunch fresh, light, and refreshing since dinner was going to be such a FEAST each day. Lunch consisted of:

Fresh Greens
with Citrus Vinaigrette, Creamy Caesar, Cucumber Dill, or Lemon Juice & Olive Oil

Freshly Sliced Veggies for Nori Wraps, Dipping, or Salad Toppings
Red Peppers, Onions, Sprouts, Cucumbers, Carrots, Scallions, Zucchini

A Variety of Salad Toppers
Dried Cranberries, Raisins, Candied Walnuts, Green Apples

Veggie Crackers & Rye Bread
These were delicious on their own or could be used to make a sandwich

Scallion Cream Cheese
This was used as a sandwich spread, Nori Pate, and dip

The group raved about lunch, it was wonderful for the attendees to see how satisfying and delicious a salad or light lunch can be. This was also a great opportunity to demonstrate that making a large batch of dressing at the beginning of the week can carry you through until the weekend. I was hesitant to put out the Nori thinking no one would be interested in Veggie Sushi. But, before I knew it everyone was rolling Sushi Rolls, the Nori Wraps were a hit!

Here's Adam charging lunch with the healing vibrations of the didgeridoo!

(read all about the rest of the retreat in parts 4.. 5.. 6.. 7... 8... you get the point!)

Raw Retreat Part 2 - The Italian Feast

.
The guests were all arriving at different times and days depending on their schedules. We had 13 people attending the first evening feast - The Raw Italian Feast. As guests arrived it was exciting to seem them react to the divine smells that were flowing from the kitchen walls. Sometimes people think with raw food you don't get to smell things "cooking" but really... a dehydrator can fill a room with the most amazing smells possible! I was busy in the kitchen prepping the dinner feast and coordinating all the elements to be finished at the exact same moment. Some items required no dehydration, others three hours so timing was EVERYTHING...

The Italian Feast Menu consisted of:

Spring Salad
With your choice of Italian Vinaigrette, Creamy Caesar, or Lemon Juice & Olive Oil

Freshly Sliced Zucchini & Kelp Noodles
Topped with Creamy Alfredo Sauce, Sweet Tomato Marinara, Meat-less Meat Sauce, and/or Crumbled Sausage

"Baked" Mushrooms with Bruchetta
Sliced Portabella Mushrooms tossed with Roma tomatoes, red peppers, onions, and fresh herbs. Lightly coated in a cheese sauce and "baked" to perfection!

Oven "Baked" Manicotti
"Baked" Zucchini Noodles stuffed with Cheese, Italian Sausage, tomatoes and peppers.

A Delectable Spectacle
Almond infused Vanilla Bean Cream Pie paired with a Chocolate Crust

Chocolate Haystacks
A Chocolate/Coconut treat that is sure to please

Freshly "Baked" Cookies - A variety of flavors to satisfy your soul.

I rang a Gong to signal the start of our dinner service and our friend Adam blessed the food with his handmade Didgeridoo.

As the guests walked in and served themselves I explained how everything was created and what ingredients were used. By the time everyone was served and seated I grabbed a plate and headed into the dining area to join the group....

I was greeted by silence!

The sounds of knives and forks hitting plates with the only noise coming from the dining room. They were feasting like Kings and Queens and loving every minute of it! Dinner was served buffet style so there was plenty for seconds... thirds.. fourths.. and I'm pretty sure I saw a few people go back for fifths! One woman began crying because the food tasted so incredible. I received enthusiastic compliments followed by hugs and massive amounts of appreciation.

I had never felt anything like it...

Here's a picture of H.H. serving me fresh spring water from Glacier Springs - a local spring that is two miles away from the lodge!

We were getting to know one another during our first feast. Here is a picture of Jeanine and Carola listening to H.H. share details of his weight loss. No one believed he had lost 110 pounds. The following evening we gave a one hour talk about our experience with raw food where we showed before/after pictures. The group was shocked by his transformation!

The retreat was off to a wonderful start... look at all our happy faces (and big bellies!)

If you would like to make Padmapani's Raw Italian Feast at home, you can purchase the e-book for $11.11 at the Online Shoppe. The e-book contains the recipes that were served at the retreat PLUS additional recipes - 22 raw recipes in total!

Seeds of Sunshine Raw Retreat!

.
We hosted our very first raw food retreat this past May 19th-22nd in Allenspark, Colorado. We teamed up with Cat and Cory, raw food enthusiasts and owners of The Sunshine Mountain Lodge to create a memorable weekend of raw food, massage, yoga, sound healing, and more raw food!

What is it like cooking... or should I say "cooking" for an entire retreat? Nothing short of AMAZING! I have never created raw food for this many people... for consecutive days. It takes a lot of planning and time budgeting but the rewards make every minute in that kitchen beyond worth it.

Grocery shopping for a raw retreat is comical. When I grocery shop JUST for myself and H.H. I get comments like "woah, what's with all the celery?!" or "Let me guess, ALL this fruit is for smoothies?!" or "Wowee, someone's a healthy eater!" So, you can only imagine the looks I received while I pushed a cart that was literally overflowing with fresh produce. The cashier was beyond bummed when I pulled my cart into his line. He looked at me and said "did you bring your own bags today?" When I replied "no" he said "So are you going to need a box or two?" I thought to myself.... maybe more like a box or twelve?! I think the final head count was 15 boxes... eek!

Packing all the groceries into our Honda CRV was another challenge... because I needed room for two additional passengers. Somehow, we got everything... and everyone IN the car and safely to the retreat center in the mountains. I began working right away and worked 14 hour days up until the guests arrived. Three dehydrators were going NON-STOP drying taco shells, falafel balls, crackers, and breads. The kitchen smelled divine and I was getting more excited by the minute!

The day before guests showed up we were surprised to see snowflakes delicately falling from the sky. SNOW on May 18th? Could it be? Yes, it was... and 6 inches later we were laughing that our retreat name - Seeds of Sunshine - seemed a bit misleading! This is a picture of a tipi built from sticks on the side of the Main Lodge, the entire place is filled with magick! And no, that moose is not real... just wood :o)

The sight of 7 pounds of Fermented Nut Cheese is Ridiculous.. with a capital "R." After fermented ALL seven pounds I thought.... "hmm, I hope I calculated correctly because this sure does look like a lot of cheese." Well... three days later it was GONE. This is a picture of me prepping for the first evening feast, The Raw Italian Feast. We were having an assortment of creations from Padmapani's Raw Italian Feast E-Book. I'll share more of those details in the next post...

Bleu Bee-rry Layer Cake!

.
The blog updates have been few and far between lately... but we have been doing SO many incredible events and gatherings with Bleu Bee. It's been a fun ride since arriving in Colorado in the beginning of April. A lot has changed in these past few months.. including the location of Bleu Bee's "home." I will be updating the blog over the next few days with all the events and adventures that have been going on. Be patient while I play catch up and getup to date!

On May 14th Bleu Bee (along with myself and H.H.) were featured guests and speakers at the Denver, Colorado Rawluck. The prior month had over 30 attendees so we were all looking forward to another great evening. Unfortunately, the Colorado mountains delivered days upon days of rain. After much debate we decided that it would be safest to leave Bleu Bee at home and drive our car to the event. There was some disappointment when we showed up in a much SMALLER vehicle but luckily my Almond Poppy Seed Layer Cake with "Butter"cream Frosting and Blueberries was a good distraction! Have no fear.... we WILL most definitely be bringing Bleu Bee to the next Denver Rawluck/Meetup Group on June 11th.

The potluck was incredible, over 30 people attended, many of which were new faces. Potlucks really are an incredible place to meet people, get inspired, and enjoy delicious food. There is always so much to choose from, you won't go hungry at a Denver rawluck. Mark and Carly, the host's of the Meetup, have created such a wonderful space for connecting, relaxing, and feasting!

If you live in the Colorado area and would like to meet Bleu Bee, come join us on June 11th at 7:00 P.M. at Your Healing Place. Bring a raw dish, take a tour of Bleu Bee, hear us speak about The Magical Mystery Bus Project and get inspired! I hope to see you there!
