Raw Chinese Feast

Yesterday was my husband Dustin's 29th birthday.  We are not big on holidays or birthdays... but if it means an excuse to have the best food ever then I'm down to celebrate!  Prior to raw food we often found ourselves sitting in front of a smorgasbord of dead, fried, Chinese food at Golden Empress Garden.   Chinese food is the one style of food that I have yet to enjoy since transitioning to raw food... until today!

These creations were all my own, it was so much fun to make a RAW Chinese feast.  I wanted to be sure to include all of the classics, the dinner menu was:

-RAW miso soup
-RAW "steamed" dumplings with nutmeat and veggie puree
-RAW spring rolls with vegetables and seaweed
-RAW kelp noodles with spicy almond sauce
-RAW General Tso's "chicken" with marinated veggies
-RAW chocolate fortune cookies, with fortunes!

Everything was delicious! My favorites were the dumplings, spring rolls and kelp noodles. Dustin had a difficult time picking a favorite because "the General Tso's chicken was amazing, but... everything was amazing!" The only downside to this raw birthday feast, was I ate WAY too much.  But, I guess that comes with the territory whenever it comes to Chinese food.

Enjoy the pictures!

  1. Wow! All of these dishes look delicious. Can you tell me what the wrapper was for the spring roll? It looks like rice paper, or was it actually a veggie?
    Thanks!
