Project Raw: Rebecca's 30 day RAW challenge

About a month ago I had the idea of conducting a 30 day raw challenge.  My goal was to find someone willing to put their pots and frying pans on the shelves for an entire month and jump head first into a raw food lifestyle.  I would prepare meals, teach raw food prep, and give a crash course into the world of raw food. In a country where fast food rules... I thought finding someone to take me up on this "offer" was a challenge in itself.

Fast forward to two days later... Rebecca Troutman was at my studio conducting an interview on my cake business that would be featured on Dine Indie.  Rebecca is an extremely talented writer and lives right here in Philadelphia.  I realized she would be perfect for my raw challenge.  What better a person to eloquently and honestly describe their journey into a raw food lifestyle then a writer?  I proposed the idea and Rebecca immediately agreed.  "Project Raw" was quickly falling into place...

The official start date for Project Raw is April 11, 2009. Rebecca and I have discussed her current diet, her favorite flavors and foods, and what raw creations she'd like to try over the next month. We will be taking field trips together so I can share with her my favorite raw "hot spots".   These field trips will include a trip to NYC to interview Chef Dan, owner of Quintessence as well as Vanessa of Gnosis Chocolate!!!!!!!

My goal is to share my passion for creating amazing living food all while showing Rebecca the transforming effects that raw food will have on her physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being.  Raw food will truly change every area of your life. It is about connecting to everything, especially yourself. I feel if you want to look and feel vibrant and alive... the best way is to start eating food that is vibrant and alive.

I will be posting regularly about the meals I create, the recipes I teach and the field trips we take over the next 4 weeks.  Stay tuned for my version of Project Raw.  To hear the good, the bad, and the ugly of Rebecca's transition, visit her blog daily at rawfoodvirgin.blogspot.com !
